Topic :- "Difficulty in Forming Small Phrases or Sentences"

Introduction :-

Language is one of the unique creations of man to express his ideas and thoughts to others. Among all languages of world, English has first place in the world.So that It is called Global Language. For us It is a gift given by British people. In spite of several languages We also learn English.

English is taught as a second language in our school. So,Writing in English is a tough task to few student. They feel very difficulty while they are writing. Some of my students are not able to write simple phrases and sentences.There is no good atmosphere for developing English because Our school is situated neat to Telangana and parents are uneducated people.All the people are talking Telugu language more than Kannada and English.It's big a Challenge for language Teachers to teach language.

Research Questions (to myself)

* How can encourage my students to write English small phrases and sentences?

Sub-questions :

1) Am I teaching English to thier level?

2) Why the are students  not able to write            English?

3) What activities should I inculcate in my          teaching?

4) What kind of activities students will                prefer?

5) What different new technics can I use to         make them to write?

Basic Question (to students)

* Why are you not able to write proper               sentences?

Sub-questions :-

1) Do you like my teaching or not?

2) In which area your failing in writing?

3) Don't you understand the way of my                 teaching?

4) Why don't do your Home Assignment at           home?

5) Should I change my methods?

Basic Question ( to parents)

* Why is your child learning slowly?

Sub-questions :-

1) Are you educated? What's your                        qualification?

2) What you want make your child in future?

3) Do your child do Home Assignment at             your home?

4) Do you check what your child writing?

5) Do your child showing interest in writing       English at your  home?

Basic Question ( to fellow teachers)

* Do your pupils make simple sentences of their own?

Sub-questions:-

1) Are you happy with your teaching? If not,     why?

2) Do you reflect yourself after every class?

3) Do your students use English Dictionary?

4) Do you like to write English?

5) How do your students feel while writing         English? Easy or Difficult?

6) Some of my students are facing difficulty         in writing simple phrases or Sentences.          Are you facing same problem in your              classroom?

7)What are the new activities / skills you            inculcated to make them write?

 

Data Collection Process :-

I collected data from different sources which helps me to develop writing skill among my students. For parents I didn't do the google forms. But many teachers responded to my questions.. The data from teachers as below...

ACTION PHASE :-

First I interacted with students and created fear free atmosphere in the classroom. Here I instructed students to write their own sentences freely. Some have written well, but few of my students did not written with correct spelling and punctuation marks.

ANALYSIS And FINDINGS :-

Here I referred some journals and books after collecting data from different sources. The main reason students have lack good atmosphere in the village and surroundings. The 90% of parents are uneducated people and don't have awareness of Education and English language. Most of the students also do other works along with studies such field works and other works at home. Some time student's laziness and not doing Home Assignment regularly.

Different New ways which I found after this Analysis to promote writing :-

English is second language in our school and hardly listen. So,There should be regular practice. Group Activities and adapting new methods and approaches.

4) Word Puzzle Writing

5) Substitution Table

6) Rhyming Words

7) Showing Attractive Pictures

8) Using Flash cards

9) One Word or One Sentence for a day

10) Write Missing Word Activity

Reflection :-

This Exploratory Action Research helped me to reflect myself on to know the level of students. I learnt many new skills to develop my Professional skills.

Conclusion :-

In this research process, I discovered that reflecting on my teaching and new ways to improve my students writing. It helped a lot to know my strengths and weaknesses.
